I'm looking for a 1960's Vintage Leupold Vari-X 3-9 scope to fill in one of the holes in my vintage scope collection. If anyone has one in good condition, please PM me and let me know what it will take to talk you out of it. grin Thanks, guys!

How do i tell?prefixes began with E in 1974,no system was used before that.
It will say Vari-X 3-9 on it. And nothing else. It will have no prefix or suffix letter. And it will look very old. And probably turning a plum color. wink

Leupold 3-9 Vari X with a standard crosshair reticle ( no duplex ) in its original box freshly back from a Leupold factory checkup ( with documentation )

Very slight rings marks ( that way when I got it ). Hasn't turned plum yet.

PM me if this is what what you are looking for.
Love that old leupold! in an original box to boot
And no "golden ring" either!!!!
Pretty cool scope!

To find something like that, that quick? The internet is a wonderful thing.
I have one with what appears to be a 42mm objective. Was that an "option" back then? It's definitely an older version. confused
ColdBore:

The original Vari-x 3-9 had a 40mm objective. Close enough to appear like a 42mm. Shoot me some pics and I'll let you know what you've got. What reticle is it, duplex?

Jim
Thanks, ColdBore. PM sent.
