Yes, For 25 years from 1981 to 2005 Remington picked one caliber each year for their Classic rifle. The 35 Whelen was 1988. You can google Remington classic calibers for others. There are some great ones and the Whelen is one of the best. This is a nice gun for a good price. If I didn't already have one of these, this one would be headed my way. They typically really shoot well.
Also.....there were the
unlimited production Classics offered from 1978-1985 in 6 different calibers--they were the first variation of the M700 after the old standbys in ADL, BDL, and Varmint.
Both the unlimited and limited production M700 Classics are the classiest M700's ever produced--in my semi-humble opinion........
