Two Dana Design backpacks. Both in excellent, like new condition. Both from the top-of-the-line series known as the ArcFlex series. Same suspension system as the infamous Terraplane and Astralplane packs. Super cushy, incredibly comfortable belt system. Both are Made in the USA, Bozeman, Montana packs.

Dana Design worked from three basic designs: 1) two vertical pouches on the outermost pack. 2) Beavertail system. 3) panel loading system. The Alpine is of the Beavertail system, and the Stillwater is of the panel loading system coupled with the Beavertail system.

the ArcFlex Alpine
volume: 5000 cubic inches is the base, which includes a 500 cubic inch fanny pack/lid. The ArcFlex series all have retractable bottoms; to somewhat mimic the versatility of an external framed pack. With the bottom retracted (as shown below in the pictures), Dana says it can be reduced to a 3500 cubic inch main body. If necessary, you can extend the skirt (as shown below in the pictures) for a full pack volume of 5600 cubic inches.

condition: like new. one, single exception was a dime width cut on the fabric on the framesheet area near the shoulder that I had professionally mended with heavy-weight polyester upholstery thread.

additional comments: one of the coolest packs I've ever owned. no exaggeration. I adore this pack. really disappointing that it is slightly too big for me, and after a couple tries, I simply cannot make it work. built like an F'ing tank.

The catalogue is reading 6LBs 10oz. With a box for shipping, around 9LBs.

These are great packs. I have a Alpine and it's a tank. very comfortable no matter what's in it. I havent tried a new pack thats as comfortable.

IMOP these Dana packs are superior to the newer MR packs.

I made a mistake. The Stillwater has a MEDIUM belt (waist 30"-36"), not a large.
