Is there any appreciable stock damage or significant wear in the metal on the 1897?

I will try to get some close up pics. There is blueing loss and some finish loss but overall it is in good shape for a gun this old.

and did you rub some soot on the left side of the gun or did someone scotchbrite the finish??

Still have it. It is bright nickel. Just a reflection
