This is an old Marlin 336 RC in .30-30 Win. SN is E65XX which dates it to 1948, the first year of production on the 336 if I am not mistaken.

It is in original form, no extra holes drilled in the receiver. To my eye, it looks to be the original factory finish. I do not see any indications that it has been re-blued, but since this rifle is nearly twice as old as me, I obviously can't vouch for its history. I have shot about a box through it at the range and it worked perfectly. It would be cool to keep around but I need to thin the heard some.

I am asking $600 for this beauty. They aren't making them like this anymore, in fact they seem to be having a hard time making them at all. If I am off on my price here, feel free to make me an offer.

High res pictures can be viewed at my blog here:

I have this same rifle. Same year model. I think you are correct that the '48 was the first year of the 336. Looks original to my eyes. If it shoots as good as mine it is one fine rifle. Bump to the top.
Good morning bump for all you black Friday shoppers out there.
Wow, cool levergun! How does it shoot?
I've shot it very little, with some factory 150's. Mainly just some informal plinking. I didn't have any trouble hitting mt. dew cans at 50 yards, which is as good as I can do with anything without a scope.

I'll go drill and tap some holes in it so I can mount a target scope and get you a picture of a target... just kidding.

It cycles rounds through the action very nicely. Like I say, they don't make them like this anymore.
Beauty, eh.
Bump.
Man if money only grew on trees, what beauty! If you are not a member of Marlinowners.com you should be, that would sale in an instant over there.
I have the exact same rifle, same year and caliber. I got ut from my great grandpa when i was 12 and it'll be my sons someday.

Id love to take it off your hands and have a matching set but i have two other rifle project's going on that are becoming expensive.

BUMP FOR A BEAUT!
Bump
morning bump
Not sure if this will hurt ya or help ya but here it goes. Paid $400 for the exact same gun some years ago......but wouldn't take $600 for mine right now. THE supreme classic deer getter IMHO! BTT for one I would like to buy myself.
Yup, if the walmart 336 is worth $350, these old ones should bring a lot more.

One last bump for the day then I think she is headed back to the back row of the safe. Someday the Army is going to put me in a place where I don't need a scope and I'll be glad I have it.
Taking it off the market for now. I have a hunt coming up and will be gone. I will likely put it back up in a couple weeks.
Myore...you still have the ole waffle top...lets see, this was a thread from about 6 years ago, but just curious.
