I picked it up today and fired it a couple of times and I like this thing a LOT!

I can see myself carrying it around some and need a holster of some sort for it.

I'm not sure just what is available for it, but show me what you have, or just share with me what you use or recommend.

thanks,
Jeff
Check out the Galco leather options. I purchased an amazing Galco cross-draw (across the chest) style holster recently for my .454 Super Redhawk and the fit and finish are outstanding. I realize you're probably looking for a belt holster and I believe they offer some of these as well. I picked mine up on Amazon.

Good luck-

John
If a left hand holster would work, let me know. I had a holster custom made for an Alaskan, but sold the gun...
Hey Jeff,
How's the recoil on that thing..? I've been looking at them as well.

Eric
next question is- Did they finally get back on the production line? There was a huge backorder for some time, and lots of guys just gave up and cancelled. I have not seen any available through Davidsons yet.

Thanks for that info John. I'm actually open to the chest holster as well. I have one for my custom 10mm Glock and it is very handy.

mow1954, I am right handed and not sure how the lefty would work, but I'm willing to consider it. Send me a pic to [email protected]

Eric, the recoil is not as harsh as I expected, but it is real, to be sure. I only fired the Hornady 260 grain ammo. The true recoil test will come when I touch off some of my favorite Buffalo Bore 360 grainers.

KenMi, I'm not sure about production, but I believe they're still hard to find. I felt lucky to find this one used, and it is in pristine condition.

This is one Beefy handfull of powerhouse in your fist and to me it just reeks of the quality that I've come to expect from Ruger revolvers.

I really am diggin' it!

Jeff,
Thanks for the feedback. I'd love to test one of these out.

For a holster you may want to check out Simply Rugged: http://www.simplyrugged.com. They have a pancake holster that's pretty rad. The guy at Gunblast is sporting one in his review of the Ruger 454 if you'd like to see what it looks like: http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-SRHAlaskan454.htm

I checked out the Simply Rugged goods and I am totally impressed with what they're doing. I am leaning hard towards them.
That's the route I'm going to go if and when I pick up a 454.

Eric
This is the one I use when carried as a backup gun bowhunting. It works very well due to the heavy weight of the loaded revolver.
