Pick one of these up thinking it had a McKy type aftermarket stock but come to find out its a rs only made 87-88 in 280 how much do they go for I read there was less than 500 made its in excellent condition

Remington offered the 700 FS-fiberglass, KS-kevlar and RS-rynite in the late 80's.
Speculating a bit here, but based on the popularity (and quality) of the KS and FS, $800 seems like a good starting point and up from there...

Those late 80's 700s were good rifles and very fine shooters. Guys spend $500 now on SPS models that can make a guy wince if he looks through a bore scope; and the stocks are, well, what they are.
The RS seems like a lot of gun for $500.

I had an RS in 280. Shot pretty good but it had a long throat from the factory - had to really push the bullets to get them to group. I think I paid right at $450 new. Best of luck with your search......

Many moon ago, I bought a RS in .280 from a shop in San Antonio, TX. It had sat on the used rack for almost 2 years according to the shop owner, and as such I was able to walk out with it for a 'steal'. First order of business when I got it home was to ditch the RS stock in favor of a Rimrock.
All That I've Owned Shot Good. Actions Where Smooth. IMO Only Problem Is The Stock.

How did she shoot?
1MOA or better w/most premium factory loads - especially Fed Premium w/150 Nosler Partitions. Never really took the time to ring out its best w/handloads. Spent my time working up .280 loads for more finicky .280s (700 Mtn rifle most notably).
