For sale is a Winchester Model 70 rifle with a .243 Shilen stainless match grade barrel. Barrel is 24" and has a 10" twist. Has shot very well with handloads. Less than 100 rounds have been fired through the barrel. Has the 3 position safety and jeweled bolt. The stock is a McMillan Sako Hunter with standard fill. Has 2 sling studs and a 1" decelerator recoil pad. Marble swirl pattern is 33% orange, 33% black, and 33% medium grey. Trigger is very smooth and crisp. I would estimate it being around 2.5-3.5 pounds. Has hinged floorplate; some people have asked me whether it is a 1 or 2 piece floorplate and I am not really sure how to tell the difference, but the trigger guard and floorplate itself are 2 separate parts that are held together with a screw so I am assuming that means it's a 2 piece. Also includes 2 piece scope base. The action has been professionally bedded to the stock and the gunsmithing work was done by Scott Baker. Rifle weighs approximately 9lbs.

Overall, the rifle is in really nice shape. The stock and barrel are like new and have only been taken to the range about 2-3 times. The action is a bit older and has a few scratches here and there, which can be seen in the pictures, mostly on the floorplate, trigger guard, and bolt knob but otherwise the finish is strong and there are no other issues. I would like to get $1000 plus shipping for this rifle but will consider reasonable offers. Your FFL must accept transfers from private parties. Is that by chance the same stock that is for sale right now on ebay? They look strikingly similar, and a number of the photos in this posting look like the ones on the ebay ad. The pattern of the flaws in the bedding under the receiver flat is the clincher to me.

So is the stock for sale on ebay, or as part of a complete gun being sold here? Can't be both.

I've known him for a while and he was offered a new job across Wyoming and has been getting that figured out and moving etc...I'm pretty sure he just totally forgot about this rifle. Love the stock. If I didnt already have a 10 twist winchester in a mcmillan featherweight Id take it.

You could do a lot worse than 95 gr. Ballistic tips and a 10 twist though. My daughter loves the fact that the 6mm ballistic tips she uses have a purple tip. The deer, not so much.
