I would like to pick up some 250 gr 35 cal bullets for a 35 whelen. would like some speers but will try anything. I have tried 200 and 225 grainers but couldn't get them to shoot to good. or if you have any advice on whelen I would appreciate it too.
just input: my customized FN Mauser 35 Whelen Imp loves 250 gr Hornady RN much more than any other bullet, w 3031 or RL 15
Several powders work well in .35 Whelen, but I got best velocities with Varget and Reloader 15. The Speer 250 HotCor kills very well, and without a lot of bloodshot meat. I shot several deer at close range broadside right through the center of both shoulder blades and didn't loose but maybe a 2" diameter hole all the way through.
Curious why you couldn't get the 200's and 225's to shoot well.

I'd get rid of the bump/free float the bbl. If the 225's won't shoot, I doubt the 250's would do any better.
IMR4064 or R15.
the bump is gone and the rifle is bedded. crown looks good too. tried all powders mentioned except 3031. I cant get close to the lands with the 200s and I thought maybe 250s would help that. rl 15 has given the best results.
58 grains of imr 3031 gives me great accuracy with 225 accubonds and over 2800 fps
I have some unopened 250 Speer Hot-Cors I can have delivered TYD $45/100
If you're still interested in 250 gr. 35 bullets, I have a full box (100) of Hornady SP and a full box (50) Nosler Partitions. Would sell both for $85 shipped.
i got what i needed. thanks guys
