I fully realize the classifieds are not an auction format, but hopefully the campfire police can make an exception for something different.

Thought this might be kind of fun?

Up for auction is a limited edition (150) Campfire Zippo. Auction will end next Sunday Sept 7th at Midnight Central Time. Unless someone sells one of theirs, this is the last one available EVER.

Bidding will start at $1.00, which includes shipping. Insurance is the buyers responsibility.

(Hope everyone has a safe/fun Labor Day Weekend)

In a way, yes it is. Going to be selling a few things and the proceeds will be going towards taking my step-dad (who has been a wonderful father to me) elk hunting and hopefully ice fishing to Northern, MN this winter.

He's undergoing cancer treatment presently and if all goes well we've got a few weeks after that is completed in early Oct to go cow elk hunting. In late Oct. he is scheduled to have a kidney removed. He basically got hit with a double whammy 1 year after retirement.

Finances are a concern for him and my mom right now and I want to do a few enjoyable things for him to help keep his spirits up.

Right now the thought of going elk hunting, which will more than likely be the last tag of many in his lifetime is what's keeping him going.

Ice fishing is a close second as far as things he enjoys most.

This weekend I will be listing a couple rifles as well as a shotgun.

This is my step-father Gary, think this was 8 maybe 9 years ago in Custer State Park. 17 years worth of preference points.

He's broken his back twice and it hurts to even see him walk, he's so crooked. First time was a freak horse accident, Dr. told him he came very very close to being paralyzed from the chest down. Second time just a couple of years ago the ladder slipped and he damn near broke his neck.

He never complains, but he's been having a tough go of it lately.

Cal,

If he wants to come ice fishing to Mille Lacs this winter, call me at Agate Bay Resort and I will take care of him. We need to take care of guys like this, we will be there too soon.

Hey cal74,

I would like to donate one of my "Campfire Lighters" to your cause.

I will ship a lighter to the a second person, who is willing to match the highest bid, with him, or her, sending the money directly to you.

I admire what you are doing for your step dad.

I'll keep it moving, an even $100.00
Good doings cal74

Thanks Cal for all your efforts on the lighters

It makes a person feel good knowing there's still so many truly good and generous people out there. I was hopeful for 50.00 bucks for the lighter.

Thank you Don, GW, and all the others. Week left on the auction, but I promise to take and upload pics of the hunt. Gary is like a 12 year old with his first tag (he's 72) everytime he's hunting. I honestly enjoy hunting with him and just his tag as much as I enjoy having my own tag.

I'm no guide, but I guided him to the above elk taken in Custer State Park and another rag horn 13 years ago in the same area where we drew our cow tags.

In the last 22 years, we've duck hunted, bird hunted, deer, and elk hunted and fished all over South Dakota and as scary as it is to fish with him out of the boat we've kept doing that as well. You literally flinch every time he casts a line out as he has no idea where his line/lure is half the time.

Because of this generosity I'll be able to cover our transportation and other expenses for the hunt and that will help ease his mind.

Thank you again, have a good Labor Day Everyone...

Cal
TTT,

you western guys and long range shooters ain't gonna let that lighter be held hostage by a short range meat hunter here in Texas are ya'????

Best,

Back up, final count down
$175, days spent afield are deeply cherished and the memories last a lifetime.
Thank you sir...

Last day, I'm out in SD right now. Beautiful weekend and Gary's happy to have me home, along with my two Cousins from the Cities.

He's brought up our up-coming hunt a few times since Friday. His spirits are good and he's down to the last three weeks of radiation.
