Wowzer, what a beautiful rifle. It looks to be cerakoted graphite black. What year of receiver? What stock (assuming Mcmillan)? I'll bet it shoots good too...
Posted By: JeffP Re: Gene Simillion 338WM - 12/20/14
The legend stock
Action was 50's
Shoots 250 and 225 gr TSX's
I'll post test targets

I thought it was a legend. Hard to tell with half of the rifle out of the picture... Custom rifle needs a little better custom picture to show it off wink

Barrel length? Weight? Price without optics? Coating?

Thanks, RS

Damn that is a sweet rifle.

Oh boy....glad it isn't chambered for something I use. Nice rifle.

Bump.

Would it be irresponsible of me to blow the $5k I have saved to fix my truck on this?

I'm going to play 5050 tonight in the Lotto...

A quick rebarrel by Gene would solve that problem. grin

Enabler! grin

bsa: The 338 is a great elk cartridge. But I have a few elk rifles. smile

Someone snag this. You can't replace it at that price.

Bump.

In addition to the above questions previously asked, what is the LOP?

Hmmm... Wonder how much work would be entailed to get to feed and extract .375 H&H like fat greasy sausages??
Posted By: bsa1917hunter Re: Gene Simillion 338WM - 12/20/14
FOsteology, you'd be better off finding an H&H receiver (like I just did) and having it re-barreled to 375. This appears to be a standard action 338 win mag. Probably not worth the effort/extra cost to convert to H&H magnum.
Posted By: FOsteology Re: Gene Simillion 338WM - 12/21/14
I was thinking on the M70 magnum action all that would be required is remove the bolt stop, change the extractor a bit and remove the soldered on magazine block.[Linked Image]

Fost, I think it will require a different box and follower and the action opened for the h&h length unless I'm mistaken.

Interested in the answers to the previously asked questions as well.

Year of action, lop, barrel make, coating, weight, do you have paperwork, price without scope and I'd like to see the targets. smile

I'm sure it has a fantastic bedding job (I'm assuming it's pillar bedded) and shoots like a house a fire. Have you ever had the barreled action out of the stock and does it still have the original trigger? The receiver was built in '53, so it wasn't built on a short magnum action, thus the bolt face was opened up or it doesn't have the original (to the receiver) bolt in the reciever. Do you have any good pictures of the bolt face and bolt and trigger?

It will be one of the few I sold with regret. But my body can't do
What I brought the rifle for.....
Posted By: mtnman1 Re: Gene Simillion 338WM - 12/22/14
Disappointed that I missed this one, but suspect it went where it will get used more than I would have.
