What's the going price for bullet lead per pound? I have over 400 pounds of 22 Long rifle bullet lead in 50 pound plates that I would like to sell to fund buying some red dot sights and maybe 1 or 2 rifles for the youth club. Need to know where to start on the price, I see on E-Bay, there selling it for over $1.50 a pound shipped. All this lead was cleaned out of the bullet traps and was 22 Long rifle ammo and melted into 50 pound plates
I think 1.50 shipped seems about right, the last that I bought from an indoor range a couple of months ago was 1.00 per pound. You might think about cutting into smaller blocks that will fit in the flat rate boxes at the post office. Just my .02.

I'd bet you would move it at that price pretty quick over at cast boolits.
When I last looked this up, scrap lead/ww's were in the 45-60 cents per pound range, pure was 85-95 cents per pound. That doesn't include shipping, of course, and is not processed/ingots, just lead however it came from the source.
shipping lead isn't that expensive if you use flat rate boxes.
scrap lead right now is .92 per lb. cleaned should be a little more so, you most likley can get $1.00 per Lb.plus shipping.
I think that 92 cents/lb is soft lead though? The few places I checked when buying some on craigslist recently (for price comparisons) had soft clean lead at 91 or 92 cents per lb, but scrap/ww/reclaimed lead was 40's to 50's, iirc.
Even at that, this lead is in blocks, so it's been collected and melted at some point, so that means it has been somewhat cleaned, even if it's still in need of some work, the really hard part is done. I don't need lead too badly, so I wouldn't give $1-$1.50 for it, but that's because I have over 700lbs of lead on hand at home now, lol. If I didn't have any on hand, I'd be pretty happy to get it for that.
gemby58, that lead of yours is probably soft enough for muzzle loader boolits. 22 lead is as you know pretty soft. I have never checked what if any alloy is used for them. but soft lead is getting hard to come by. I just bought 500 lbs of linotype and might be interested in some of yours if you figure out what you want. the lino was a buck a pound.

Around a $1/lb + shipping seems to often be the going rate for clean ingots. As stated-some prefer the soft lead for muzzleloader or to do their own alloying so that is not necessarily a disadvantage.

His mother brought him on Thursday too the shoot. Him and I had a talk, he said he was sorry and told me his dad said if he dint do it he was going to get his butt beat. Don't know what type of parent that has his son steal for him. I hope it turns out right for him in life but with a life hes living now I would think hes heading for trouble, time will tell.
