I've got a Stevens 200 1-9 twist barrel in 223 on the way than I plan to have reamed out to 22-250 and put on a XS7 action for a cheap fast twist 22-250. It's not a 8 twist, but it should give me a lot more options than a 14 twist.

Palmetto State Armory has the XS7s on closeout for $250, but just thought I'd check on here first. So, anybody have one that doesn't shoot as well as you'd like that would be a good candidate for a re-barrel? And you'd let go of cheap?
great rifles btw... That's a great shipped price for an XS7. Pull the barrel, sell it, and install your 22-250 barrel.

I fondled one of these at cabelas for about 30 minutes. Trigger felt almost as good as an accutrigger (had the slightest faint of a creep, which would probably adjust out. Bolt felt similar to some of the 700s they had. Stock felt like a stevens with a better pad. Didn't look to be free floated, if it was there wasn't much clearance and a bipod would surely have caused some contact. Would make a good brush gun. Safety was loud.
Any body know what the twist rate is on Marlin X7 .223?

I think they are 1-9 but are hard to find. Also, you have the wrong bolt face for a 22-250. One of the guys on another forum here on the 'fire has done this several times with the Stevens 223 barrels(Savage barrels are 1-12) and has found it to be a cost-effective way to shoot heavier bullets out of a 22-250. Guess you could do the same on a Savage action, but I just think the Marlins are better looking rifles.
Never heard of one that didn't shoot! My 243 is as accurate as any rifle I have ever owned. Sub half inch with several loads. I can't believe Remington picked the 783 over these.
Up one more time for the weekend, then I'm ordering from Palmetto State Armory first of the week. At that price, I'm actually thinking about ordering two of them. One to make the 22-250 and the other to just leave as a 243.
If you can get this rifle for $250, don't think buy! I have an xL7 and an xs7, they are both shooters, I am showing $364 at psa, how are you getting 250?
