Are you sure that the Vari-X II is a 3-9x40? It looks more like a 3-9x33. Thanks!

It may be. On the bell is shows that it is a VariX IIc . The OD mikes out at 1.830". A VxIII 4.5-14x40 OD mikes out at 1.960"

A 33mm is 1.5" outside dia.
