This is a nice older Model 70 serial number 15XXX, made in 1938. It has been drilled on the rear bridge, but the rest of the gun is original. The metal on the floor plate has lost most of the bluing, but the rest of the gun is very nice...$2599.00

One tapped hole or two in the rear bridge? The pic seems to show only one screw holding the rear base on.
Bump for a cool rifle.
I have a 30 govt 06, '38. Condition looks a lot like this one. Bluing gone from floorplate, the rest of the bluing is good.
I wonder if there was something in their process that made the floorplate wear faster.

Good morning...
This is not a common rifle...
Bump for the memory.

About 1961-62 I bought a used one in K-Hornet. The dealer also had a new Savage 340 22 Hornet. They were the same price.

I bought the M70. smile

While I was in Korea next year, my mother moved, and sold it. frown

I can't believe you are selling this.
Bump for a great seller and a really cool dog killer.

I did. I sent him cash and now I'm just waiting for it to arrive. I was thinking of putting a high end Bushnell scope on it for armadillo hunting.
Good luck, he already sold it to me...
He'll probably send my money back with a written apology.

Someone need this...
Awesome, would go very nice with my 30 Gov't 06 M70. I'm only about $2K short. Here's a bump for you.

Question: were all the old M70's built on the same long actions?

Yes, that Hornet is a full length action but a well designed magazine that will feed 22 Hornet ammunition and the bolt is obviously different to accommodate the same...

Friday morning...
Again
