Picked up a Marlin 1892 .22 for cost of used 10/22 w/ scope. My concerns are why so cheap??? He says dead on, went through at local shop and no issues. A friend who dabbles in vintage levers said look too clean to not be a fake, but I got a pretty good warm and fuzzy from local deal to not care at the price. He said was graded A1 and does not look to be reblued.

What would do you guys feel the value is? Anything I need to worry about? Anything not look right? Or does it all just look pretty good? I do plan to take to shop and have them take a peak before shooting.

Weren't the receivers & levers originally case hardened on these?
Take the serial number and call marlin....then you will know exactly what you have and can go from there.
Butt plate, and wood finish are not original, but otherwise looks great! Could be a reblue too, but still looks like a good job. Too early for their micro-groove barrel, which has always been one of Marlin's attractions.
JeffG is right, buttplate and wood finish are not original. The forend cap is also wrong (it should be blued). It also appears to be a reblue. Is the trigger gold? If it is, that isn't right either. Don't shoot high velocity ammo in it, just standard velocity or lower. The bolts on these were not designed for it. An improvement was made in the bolt design in the 92's grandchild, the Model 39 (serial numbers starting with HS).

Calling Marlin would be a waste of time. Contact someone (the administrator) over at the marlin-collectors.com site, provide them the serial number and they should be able to get you a year of manufacture (or a good approximate).
It's an older refinish....for sure....well worth what you paid..I think...battle may be pitted. But with the refinish I may have been relined ...you selling?
I think you overpaid (whatever you paid) and feel bad that someone would take advantage of a nice guy like you.
Just to show you that not all gun guys are bad, I'll give you what you paid and pay for shipping.
worth 2 10/22's even reblued. excellent little guns.
Thanks for the replys. Probably going to sell or trade. Great looking rifle but probably try to trade it away. Hard to pin point a value. Thanks.
It's nice to find good old guns like this. I just bought a Remington 550 22 rifle that I thought was pretty cool. It shoots really good too. It'll be a great rabbit gun in the upcoming months......
If any Ak variants floating around out there. I'd be interested.
