This is a early Bofors 1500.00 Sako Deluxe that someone went to a lot of expense to ruin. The "Famed" custom rifle builder Griffin & Howe Inc New York, and I use that term loosely, mounted their quick release scope system on it and installed the owners "name plaque" on the bottom of the butt right in front of the rear sling swivel. Bascially killing any collector value this rifle has, it is mated right through the action. In their defence they did a great job, everything works well and you have to look hard with the bolt removed to even tell what they did. Barrel is a rare Deluxe with front sight, Bofors. Bolt face looks new, muzzle is perfect. bottom metal with the early acorn engraving is gorgeous. Original pad was rotted and replaced with a new Pachmayer, same color. Stock was refinished in oil and the name plaque removed and stock repaired. When it was purchased the top rear scope ring was rattling around in the box scratched up. I suppose if you wanted to shoot it with irons you could pop off the scope, pop on one of the Sako rear dovetail sights and go to town. Does it shoot well, yes, probably has 75 rounds down it. Please spare me any comments about this travesty, I'm a Sako collector and could probably quote you chapter and verse on this rifle. My price, 750.00 shipped for a sweet shooting Sako L461 in 222, I'm leaving the Deluxe part off.
