This is a 338 norma mag, Lawton 400X action, bartlien barrel with muzzle brake, mcmillan stock, not sure of the bottom metal, has a jewell trigger, has dies ( not sure on the brand of those yet, hadnt seen them yet ) has 1 brand new box of norma brass, 60ish once fired, brand new box of berger 300gr otm bullets, and a lb of retumbo. Was built several years ago, serial # is 19XX, he thinks Lawton built it but cant find the build sheet. The guy's uncle had it built and said he didnt cut any corners when building it. The once fired brass is the total round on the rifle, his uncle never got to hunt with it after he got the loads dialed in and has since passed away. Trying to get some kind of value on it before i trade for it, any help will be appreciated, thanks James

The scope and rings are mine, going to try to shoot it soon.

Rugerdiggs: I knew Barney Lawton personally and watched him create many beautiful actions/Rifles up til the time of his death.
I kick myself for not getting the money together and buying one of his wonderful Rifles before things shut down.
Several of my friends own them and they are all happy with them - including one sensationally accurate Varmint Rifle in 223 Remington.
The Lawton actions/Rifles seem to hold up well over the years IMO.
Best of luck to you with the new Rifle (if you buy it).

Thanks for the help
I don't see $3,000...Maybe $2,000-2,250

Yeah that... no slam at all on the build, but its a highly specialized rig and you're gonna have to find JUST the right person who wants it.

Generally speaking I figure I'm REALLY lucky if I can get 70% out of my customs.

You might want to focus on posting it in forums where guys who are into that sort of thing roam... like long range hunting and such... as well as here.

Good luck w/ your sale!
