I have a family friend that needs to unload some guns. They are the following:

-Colt Diamondback .22 lr
-S&W Model 53 unfired in box with everything and ammo. Chambered in .22 Jett
-Colt .25 Vest Pocket
-Torakev all numbers matching.

Question is: should I have him transfer the guns to me, then I sell them for him on here, or can I find a buyer for him and ship the guns for him, he provides the paperwork in the shipment. He is elderly and lives 150 miles from me. Some of these have not been registered, but all are between 35 and 99 years old., I believe.

Thanks!
-Ryan
what are you asking for the two colts? Thank you
He needs to provide the paperwork. It would be best to have a Dealer ship them for him, if he's not able to do so. That way he and you are both covered on all BATF Rules.
A lot depends on which State your shipping them from and which State you are shipping them too. I don't see a problem with you listing them on here for him, though.

Also, In dealing with states like CA, NY, MD, MA, NJ, CT, HI, and several others, there are many other legal issues to deal with as to what may be legally shipped there.

Just be sure you cover all your bases, dot all the i's and cross all the T's so to speak. Be sure to check ALL the rules & regulations on the BATF web sight, too. Don't just go on what someone told you they thought was legal to do.
I did this same thing for a friend and I would have him transfer them all to you, then do all your shipping from your FFL. Get his rock bottom pricing and you manage the sale and shipping. Shipping from your FFL will be more pricey, but it will take the liability off you.

Trust me, It will make your life easier.

No legal issues shipping from a FFL to a FFL in New York State.

Thanks for the replies guys! I am going to do a little more research, then I will list them for sale next week.

Cheers,
-Ryan.
Ryan -

Why transfer them to you? If you aren't an FFL then there is no need to do that transfer and then transfer them again when they sell. There is no need for an FFL to ship them because he's will likely charge you to run them through his book but if the owner would rather run everything through an FFL, good. If he doesn't want the added layer of expense as the ATF rulles do not mandate that the gun be shipped by an FFL but you have to ship them to an FL to do the transfer to the buyer. Either way the gun will go through an FFL once it is bought.

Again, if you aren't an FFL there is absolutely no need to transfer them to you.
My local ffl will not receive from "selling guns for a friend "
He will receive from an individual
You lost me there. An individual selling guns for a friend is still an individual, no?

I had the same thought, dont NOT sell to us based on one persons assumptions...Jeez...
just have the legal owner ship through a FFL and forget all this foolishness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're making this much more difficult than it is. I'm all for easy and legal. Just sell the guns. If you sell them online you'll have to ship to an FFL and then he'll do the transfer.
I talked to my local FFL and he straightened me out. Thanks guys.
