Yep, they sure did. I had one at one time. Sweet pointing gun.....handled like a nice light 20 gauge.
had that one and a 338 in the same. Both Belgium/Portugal guns.
Only problem I ever had was a light primer strike in cold weather which led to a misfire (didn't fire), and a deer living to see another day.
Only ones I came across on a quick search were a few on Armslist.
The best of both worlds. BAR in a 280. That would be sweet seeing as how 280 is the best deer cal. on the planet IMO. Good luck in search. I have had a lot of luck here searching for such guns
don't glorify the things guys>>> LOL
I got cash ..

I have one that is NIB, that I bought about 15-20 yrs ago. I will check later this afternoon. You can PM some contact info and I will get back to you.

I have one also, bought new in 1991. Haven't used it in a number of years. I'd hate to part with it though.

Might be a deal too good to pass up. I doubt there are very many NIB BAR 280's in this country.
You can always put a B&C fiberglass stock and forend set on it to save the factory wood.
Pretty rare bird. They were only made about 6 months. Before they went to the MKII . I worked in a gun shop in the 80s til 1990. They were shown in the catalog for a year before they were actually shipped to the distributors. We got a couple from Ellett Bros right before deer season. I ended up taking one of them home not knowing that the next order Browning had brought out the MKIIs. They never chambered them in 280.
Got mine through Bill Hicks distributors. It was on backorder for a short time, then the salesman called and said they just got a "huge lot" of them in. If I recall correctly, it was around 90 of that caliber alone. But, like said above, it was probably not long before the model changed, and they were no more. Some of the BARs of that era got some very nicely figured wood as well, if you were able to look at several to compare
