As someone that don't like recoil, I noticed that pad right off. Any one have any thoughts.
I use that stock on a lot of my rifles, not so much for the pad but for the total stock. Feels much better than the standard ones.
PS, .22 Mag has no recoil to speak of!
I have one more if anyones interested.
PM'S answered. Still available.
Also available in. 17 HMR.
Hi John
Tell us about the .17 HMR (accuracy, recommended barrel length, functioning, reliabilty, # of rounds). An upper in .17 HMR would be a great addition to the rifle I got in .22 WMR from you. Wish these were around before I bought a Savage A17!
The .17 HMR in this platform is extremely accurate with groups of 1/2" to 3/4" the norm. (Depending on whose behind the trigger). Both length barrels are equally as accurate with the 18" giving a few more FPS, (probably 50-75). These rifles are very reliable and so far the only issue I have had was with a modified trigger I tried that wouldn't reset. I changed to a standard AR mil-spec trigger & everything was fine. I just put one together with a 3 lb. Velocity drop in trigger, it is really sweet. All in all its a pretty neat package!
Hope you are enjoying yours, Carl.
I finally had a couple hours to fiddle with the .22 WMR AR. I swapped out the mil-spec trigger for the 3# Velocity. I was feeling ambitious, so I threw a scope on it, bore sighted it and said what the heck I may as well shoot it. I grabbed some maxi mag 40gr ammo, loaded a mag with 14 rounds, grabbed my ears and eyes and headed out to a piece of my property about a half a mile from my house. Fired off 3, waiting a couple minutes, and did that two more times. Was shooting at an old cattle feeder. Walked over to see if I hit it at all, (of course I'll sight it in later off a bench) and yeah, there were some holes in it. Good enough for just fooling around off hand and standing. Finished off the mag in a couple more spurts. Every round fed, fired and ejected perfectly. I was kind of disappointed when I realized the mag was empty and I did not grab the box of ammo on the way out the door.
Bottom line-these gun are the real deal. They work as promised. I have no doubts about the rifle at all. Obviously, you have done your homework; the gun the mags, everything-was perfect, as was, the packaging and the communication. Really thinking I need that .17 HMR in 16" with 2 extra mags (4 total).
Someone asked about twist rate on the .22 Magnum, it is 1:14
