I thought I'd make something of this, but I just decided to let it go. I haven't fired it but it has an excellent bore, 22" barrel with a straight taper from heavy (maximum diameter at the barrel nut), to 1/2" at the muzzle. It's a well balanced rifle with this taper. Slim in the grip and forearm so it feels very controllable.
Blind staggered magazine, shadowline cheekpiece, soft Decelerator pad, Millett bases and engraved style rings, really nice light trigger pull with zero creep, Savage 110 serial # D491xxx, custom wood with black tip, wraparound checkering on the forearm, grip, and grip cap. This is some very good quality work on the checkering. Only downside is one repaired crack on bottom by the action screw, hard to see but there. A blemish here and there on the wood and a little flaking of black off the trigger guard. Were these aluminum trigger guards? Looks like it. Sell for $625 shipped or trade for something interesting.

Hope I didn't jinx the rifle by calling it "pretty decent". blush As you can see it's a darn nice weapon. I like the feel of the wood alot.

I looked at three shops in town today for some factory ammo just so I could try it out and finally convinced myself I don't need a 7mm-08. I'm at too-many-guns-not-any-room already. What's a .284 man gunna do with a 7-08 anyway?

I wish someone would buy this for their son as a deer rifle.

Sweet little rifle.
I just bought a rifle from Roy.
Good man to deal with.
Buy with confidence.
Coach
Thanks Coach. Same to you friend.

I hesitate to use the word beautiful in the same sentence with Savage, but that is one very nice looking rifle!

I think not shooting it was probably a good idea.

That is the best looking Savage that didn't have a lever on it that I have seen.

Bump and good luck.

Good looking weapon and awesome caliber. Ifin I didn't already hand down my Steyr 7-08 to my son, I'd jump on it fer him!!! Definite great weapon fer anyone! GLWS
I'd trade this for a couple of Leupold 2.5-8 VX 3 or 3i scopes. Or something else.
Heck Roy,
Just rebore that sucker to a 358 and go hunting!!!

Beautiful rifle.

STOP THAT.
PM returned on trade by dad for his 13 yr old. Awesome, I hope it works out for him.

I'd throw in a few dollars to help that deal work for the youngster.

Nice looking Savage!
Dad decided to get something more utilitarian for dragging up and down trees, so somebody needs to trade me out of this.

I need a carry pistol. Leupold scopes.
If somebody doesn't buy this soon it's going to the range. This gun feels great, great balance and just fits. Make me an offer with a brand new Minox 3-9x40 with the BDC reticle.

Yep, pm returned. Question asked why more $ than a plain factory Savage.

You don't hear comments like "beautiful" when speaking of a Savage factory rifle, so there must be something going on here.

Custom wood with great checkering quality and quantity, shadowline cheekpiece, well fitted pad. Little details like weight and balance, checkered pistol grip cap, black tip.

Custom barrel, good twist for long bullets.

Fair question, thanks for that.
Scope removed, rifle, mounts, rings $550 +35 shipping.
$550 + $35 shipping
Up for a Good Fellow to deal with!

This thing really needs to go somewhere.....it is a neat rifle.
Jim, Why don't I send it to you and you shoot it and give us all a report.

You said custom barrel who made the barrel?
I do not know who did the barrel work.
Posted By: Leonten Re: Pretty decent custom 7-08 - 02/24/17
I meant who made the barrel?
No maker mark obvious from above.
Best I will do is $500, plus $35 shipping.
