What is the barrel channel and if sporter can it be opened up?

The barreled action that was in it was a Classic Sporter with BOSS and it was very floated. I'm not familiar with Winchester barrel contours but the rifle was 7mm mag. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

OK I have a project in the works building a 458 Lott on a M70 long action so will need to be able to open the channel to fit the large barrel profile.
