FS. This is a nice old JC Higgins model 51 FN barreled action in 30.06. Barrel is 22". Has some normal scratches and wear from hunting use, but overall excellent condition and bore, crown and bolt face are excellent. Does not come with a trigger or bottom metal.

Price is $295 shipped to FFL in the CONUS. Feel free to ask question, but first "I'll take it" gets it.

Thanks

I can't believe this hasnt sold yet. Gawd why duz stuff like this come up when I'm flat broke. I have a custom rifle I built with that very same set up-I love it. I would love to have this one as a spare or just to claim it for my brother or friend who would love it too. How's the bbl?
THE SAGA GOES ON; SO WILL SOMEONE TELL ME: why is it impossible to sell a Mark X with a nice stock custom stock for another 150 guidas ? Compare the two and tell me ! Both IMO are great rifles <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif" alt="" /> These actions are great. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Mowzer, the barrel is excellent.

Idahochucker. I'm not sure. The mark X's are excellent actions, but they still make them (remington 798) and there are a lot more of them floating around.

I would imagine it all depends on the quality of the so called "custom" stock. Lets see a photo of what you have.

The fact that this Model 51 does not come with a stock, trigger and bottom metal of course makes it less desireable in many peoples eyes. I have seen Model 50s sell in good condition in the $375 range, and there is no way a person is going to put a trigger, stock, and bottom metal on this rifle for under $100.00.
22WRF, Thanks for the commentary. Since you seem to post quite a few classifides, I'll be sure to review each of you items and give my opinion of your asking price.

That was inappropriate <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
22WRF had a much higher regard for the model 50 when he posted this back in May:

https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads...rue#Post1019092

Seems he was asking $500 for a model 50 barreled action back in May, but my model 51 (much harder to find) at $205 cheaper is somehow over priced.

Go figure

Weagle.
Mine is in absolutely mint almost unused condition and comes with a trigger and bottom metal. There is no difference between a model 50 and 51 except for the number.
Oh. ok

free bump for a good fella and a fairly priced rig.

(Gotta figure I could find a trigger and bottom metal for less than $200.00) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Thanks. I will also take full or partial trade for leupold or other high quality scopes.

For whoever buys this b-action: Ive got bottom metal for model 50 and 51s.

Are you sure? Mine has NO holes drilled on the side for a
peep sight and the scope mount holes are farther apart.
(Not standard mauser spacing)

Not looking for a quarrel, just asking.
Barreled action is sold to a nice home in Alaska <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks to all.
