I took a BSS 12 M/F in a trade and have it for sale here, but am thinking of keeping it. Points well. What do you BSS owners use yours on? Like it?

Lee, I have owned two BSS 20 ga shotguns over the years. I don't own either anymore, but they are well made guns (similar to the old Ithaca SKB imports in quality). They are side by side shotguns made with the quality of a Citori. My first had non-selective barrels, the second had the switch (little gold button in the trigger guard). The second one I owned is now the regular bird gun of my local gun shop owner (who took it in trade from me). Well built and nicely balanced shotguns. Odessa

Well made firearms.. My only caveat is parts availability if you ever need them.. VERY difficult to come by...

I bought a BSS at a sporting clays tournment a few years back, 12 ga with 28 inch tubes, took it to the 5 stand, ran it, and it followed me home. The parts for them are almose zero but they are very simple and durable gun and I doubt under normal wear a guy could cause it any harm.

Mine had the stock cut down and spacers put back in to get the LOP back to normal. I have had this gun sitting in the back of my safe as a restock project some time now, and need to get after it.

I think for any upland bird the BSS is the bees knees, mine is no light weight but feel good and points great, I think a 20 would be a grouse killin machine.

I bought mine back around 1977 or so.
A 20 gauge with 26" tubes and choked imp and mod. Non-selective.
It's still completly stock and in excellent condition. A little wear on the action underside from carry,is all.
They're a wonderful, lively shotgun and not only getting pretty darn hard to come by, but expensive when you do fine one !
I've made some doubles on quail, pidgon and dove with that little sweetheart that I could never have made with anything more cumbersom....

I passionately prefer stack-barrels over SXS's (which I do not like!), but was I to procure a SXS, the BSS would get my interest. I was real sorry when Browning discontued them.

I am shooting Lefever, Parker, LC Smith and AH Fox now, so parts for the BSS don't worry me.

I have one in 12 gauge with 26" barrels choked improved and modified and with the non-selective trigger. It has performed superbly and is very high quality. I killed five ringnecks with it last year. Thanks...Bill.

They are tough enough that they were one of the favorites for conversion to a double rifle by Searcy at one time. Kind of a working man's Winchester 21 in my opinion. They were a bargain when new,but have become sort of a sought after cult item,esp. in smaller gauges or more deluxe versions. I'd just keep it.

Yeah, this BSS is nice. I am offering it at 25% below market, so if it doesn't move, it will likely grow on me.

As a bit of an aside, I can't understand the used gun market, side-by-sides in this case. I just sold for a song a really nice Beretta 470 12 ga. The demand doesn't seem to be there, yet you say that the Brownings are rising in price. The Beretta is at least in the same class as the Browning, and probably a cut above, and it is still in production so you should be able to get parts for it. Go figure.

The second lot of Beretta 470 in 12 gauge with pistol grip is a hell of a well-balanced, and well-made shotgun.

Mine had a straight English style stock. It sure was pretty.
