I have an Ithaca model 200E double barrel in 20 Ga. Barrels are fixed skt / skt. Those worked good for me 20 years ago before I got to be an old man. I could double on a covey within 20 yards. Now that second bird is getting out there to about 30 yards and skt is just to open for that distance.

Who does the best job installing screw in's? And does anyone have any advise?

Thanks
I would talk to Briley.
Or Mike Orlen at Swift River Gun Works. Both do a good job.

Mike has done a bunch of work for me
No reason to send a 20 to Briley and pay very high prices. Mike Orlen will do what you want and do it well, with far less cost to you.

I spoke to someone at Carlson Chokes yesterday. They need me to mic the barrels and send a picture. He needs to see how the barrels are attached. their prices were 185.00 - 210.00 and that includes 3 chokes. That seems reasonable to me. The Carlson chokes are 30 bucks each.

I'll check with Briley and Mike Orlen also.

Mike Orlen is way cheaper than that, another is Steve Rose @ Rose Action Sports.

You can not go wrong with either one of these guys.

That was going to be my answer as well as soon as I saw the first "send it to Briley" response.

I've never shipped a firearm to anyone. Does this need to be shipped by a FFL? Would they need the whole gun or just the barrels? Thanks for everyone help.

If thin wall chokes are needed then I would think Briley. Does Orlen do thin walls?

In the past have only needed to ship the barrels. Since Briley does all types of gun repairs and has an FFL you can ship directly to them without going thru an FFL on your end.
Yes he does thin walls. Where have you been hiding Mr. Battue?

Doing a little Grouse hunting, but it so damn cold it has been very little. Up to 24 tomorrow so will try and finish out the season then and Friday.

Had a monster cold for a week; down here just about everybody has had their turn. Some nasty germs have taken up residence down this way, especially in the hospital. Worst I've seen it in years.

Other than that not much new, working out and getting ready to bust some clays.
You going anyplace, give me a heads up in advance and I'll try to arrange the schedule. Signed up for the Seafood if you can make it. Fitasc is full, but perhaps strings can be pulled if it is not to late.

Addition: Toby just said you can GTH since you didn't ask about him.
Haha Toby wouldn't say that to me! Glad to hear your getting after the birds. I was up in Maine at the camp two weekends ago. Did 600 miles on the sled with a buddy. Might shoot a local shoot this weekend at western mass birddog club. I might change my mind if it stays in the teens.

They all seem to run about the same price. $55 a barrel + shipping. Carlson is $ 185 total but comes with 3 chokes. Rose said he needed .710 OD 1" down muzzel. I have .685. Carlson said .627 3" down muzzel. I'm at .685.

I would be a nervious wreck drilling and threading someone elses shotgun. Hats off to these guys.
