I have two winchester model 12 12ga. Field grade guns and I'm thinking of having one or both refinished or restored. One is from the 50's and one is a nickle steel gun from the 20's. the 1950's gun is full choke 30 inch and is in a little better shape than the other, the 20's gun is 28 in mod choke. Both have almost no bluing left.

I don't think they have much value as collector pieces.

Any recommendations on who to send it too.

I also have a bag of parts that is a complet M 12 mod choke 28 in. That I was told was recovered from a house fire. The barrel is toast, bad pitting. I think the rest might be salvageable, with a new barrel. Would the receiver need to be Rockwell tested to make sure it's safe?

They are about 15 min south of me just outside of St Louis and do great work from everyone that I have talked to who have used them.

The nickle steel needs a special bluing process, or you will end up with a purple barrel.
Make sure that the person you use can do nickle steel.
