kinda thinking of getting one
399.99
use it as my dove gun
to reach out and touch some of those high flyers with oxygen mask on with a full choke, and modified for average distance birds
probably kind overkill for doves
but I like the looks of this gun and the price
anyone got one
or any input about them
what chokes a interchangeable with them???
or are you just limited to the ones that come with it.
The 12 ga stoeger sxs have a reputation of splitting stocks, but you think they would figure that issue out after a while.
I suspect the chokes are the same as all the other franchi / stoeger family and will be the beretta style choke.
Probably not a bad gun for the price as long as the stock issue has been addressed/
I have the Stoeger O/U and it is a great dove/clays gun. My guess is the SxS would do equally as well . I have never used aftermarket chokes in it.
The issue with the Stoeger the other inexpensive SXS & O/U shotguns is long term durability of the trigger mechanism.
This is not a flame of the Stoeger in particular, it is long-term observation of these lower-end guns. I have seen many recreational shooters show up a the local gun club and start shooting skeet or trap, invariably within a couple thousand rounds the triggers start to fail.
Many of the more expensive guns SKB/Remington Peerless/Win101 also experience trigger issues. You have to get up to the B guns, Beretta and Browning before the quality of the triggers improve to the point that they will stand up to lots of use.
These guns are made to meet a price, they are not made with the same quality materials as the more expensive guns. If you are not going to shoot a lot, it may well last a lifetime, but if you plan to shoot it a bunch, I recommend you save your pennies and buy a used Browning or better yet a Beretta 686.
I am happy for you guys who are pleased with your Stoegers/Baikals/Huglus/Mossebergs etc. and have had no trigger issues. I wish you many more years and thousands of shells downrange in the future.
