Looking at an early 60's 12 gauge for turkey hunting. Any known issues with barrel steel or construction? Heard some rumor about bad barrels but can't track it down.

At that time there were two JP Sauer companies one behind the iron curtain in Suhl/East Germany and the other I in Ekemdorf (spelling more might be wrong)/West Germany one used Russian steel and the other German steel both were very high quality steel. Some people question Russian steel but it was good stuff.

Just stick to lead shot in them, chokes and forcing cones were never designed for steel or HTL loads.

Thanks. I really love the fit of the Sauers and hope their barrel regulation is on. Tossed a double from Turkey cause the regulation was terrible!
