Leupold has told me their custom shop is currently shut down and no real answer to when they'll re-open.

I have a VX1 2-7 that I'd like to change the parallax on to use on my Kimber 22lr.

Anyone know who would do this other than Leupold?

Thanks,

BBQ
Pretty easy to do it yourself, do a search on how to.
It's not that hard to do yourself. I've done it on a couple of VX1 2-7s for 22 RFs. As I recall there's detailed instructions on Rimfire Central.com. and MCARBO..

Ok just finished this on a Leupold VX-II Ultralite 2X7. It was extremely tight. I had actually given up on it after trying all of the tricks here. What I didn't understand was the object of wrapping the duct tape was to actually build it out to nearly double the size of the objective bell. I started wrapping it and probably doubled the diameter of the objective bell from ~1.5" to maybe somewhere around 3". I'm guessing but it was near that. Think 32mm to 50mm. That plus a set of leather work gloves and it just gave a little pop and unscrewed. I think the whole secret is to get enough mechanical advantage on it. Think of a dresser knob vs. a door knob. Or a cheater bar on a lug wrench.

This scope is perfect for my Marlin 39A but the parallax always bugged me. That adjustment (50yds) was super easy. I probably would have ended up just buying a dedicated rimfire scope if it had come to sending this one to Leupold.

What kind of parallax are you seeing? Are you using more in the field of paper? I've used several 2-7s without issue for Squirrel hunting.....

Nothing against having a scope with PA adjusted if you are using for a specialty use like shorter range rimfire use. IIRC, the standard models like mine, have a reticle that is a bit easier to see in the field on game and various light. The rimfire models seem to have a thinner reticle......not of value to my eyes, for my use. Folks have to decide on their use.

I'd expect your Kimber is highly accurate.

Here’s a link to Rimfirecentral. I’ve done it several times using these instructions.

Helpful hint - If you are near a Harbor Freight stop in and spend $5.00 for a set of these strap wrenches. Use the small one on the tube and the larger one on the objective. I have done at least a half dozen scopes using these and have never left a mark on the scope, the straps are a rubber of some sort.

+1 on the strap wrenches.

At least you got it loose.

In a nutshell, you wrap the tape sticky side down for a couple laps, then reverse wrap sticky side up a couple more laps, gives you a superman, no slip grip.
The duct tape wrap worked perfectly for me on an older 6x Leupold.

It’s very easy, I did the exact same for my vari x III 3 .5 -10x40 and put it on my BRNO 22. I highly recommend some cheap rubber strap wrenches as well. It took me about 15 minutes to do. Now I have a nice Leopold scope w a parallax set at 40 yards for my squirrel hunting.
My only question is, “What other brand scopes can you do this to, without damaging the scope?”
