Anyone ever had one go bad on them?
Nope and I own several.

ETA: the ones I own are the older, Japanese-made 4200 scopes.

Nope two Bushnell & one B&L 4200 2.5-10, great scopes. I didn't pay enough attention ànd sold the B&L by mistake thinking it was a 1.5-6 my error so he got a nice scope. He did let me know what I did and was willing to send it back he kept it and bought the 1.5-6 also worked out well.

I keep them on open country rifles.

I have several and like them. No issues. Glass is good quality.

Mine are 1/4" per click at a hundred, four clicks per inch. And, they track pretty well.

And the tubes are long enough for LA rifles without having to use rails.

I've had several and never any problems. Good bang for the buck, for sure.
I have
5-4x16x40
2 elite 4x16x40
2-4500 4x16x40
1- 3200 5x15x40
2-6500 2.5x16x4
1-6500 4.5x30x50
1- tactical 5x15x40

Never any problems at all
Also sold 3-6x24x40 4200 that were great scopes
I have a 2.5 x 10 on a Rem 700 LVSF in .17 Remington I use for calling coyotes in close or long shots on ground hogs. It has great glass, but the eye relief and eye box is not near as good as a Leupy 2.5 x 8. It's a compromise on both ends for a dual use varmint rig. I wish I had got it with the lighted reticle ( I think ) I really wish I had bought the 1.75 x 6 just to have
No 4200s but we have 3200 Made in Japan on two 7-08, a .260, a .44 mag and a .50 muzzleloader. They adjust well but haven’t required it since initial sight in of current loads.
Have (4) 4200 & (5) 3200 scopes and never had an issue with any of them
I've got two 4000/4200 scopes. A 2.5-10 and a 3-9. They've been mounted for years on a 35 Whelen and a .338 Win. with no issues. The only one I've ever had a problem with was a 1.5-6x36 that I bought off Ebay. When I received it, the scope was blurry and wouldn't focus. Sent it to Bushnell and they replaced it with the 3-9 4200.

I've been buying the Elite scopes since the 90s, both 3000/3200 and 4000/4200, in power ranges from 1.5 -4.5 to 4-12. They've been mounted on guns ranging from .17 rimfires to 12ga. slug guns. That used scope from Ebay has been the only one I've ever had to send in for repair.

Not a 4200, but had a 3200 that the windage adjustment was bad out of the box. I sent it back, of course I had to pay $10 for return shipping, but that was 16+ years ago. Bushnell replaced the internals and never another issue.
