So, since the Helos 2-12 tracked well, I figured I'd try something with better glass. ExpertVoice had a great deal on these, and my son's lefty Bergara B14r needed glass.

Ares 3-18 mil

After mounting and zeroing inside with no wind, we took it outside and did two ten round groups at 50 yards, dialing 5 mils up/down between each shot.

Shooting CCI standard velocity off bags we ended up with slightly over MOA groups both high and low.

The "not shooting 0.2's" setup:

Overall, I love the 10 yard parallex for a .22lr, and the glass is noticably better, especially at max power and around the edges, when compared side by side to the Helos 2-12. The Helos is 25.4oz, and the Ares is 31.4oz, so neither is exactly lightweight.

For the hunting I do, the Argos HMR has the same glass as the Helos, and comes in under 20oz with an illuminated reticle. I know, I know, you need FFP to kill at 75 yards with a single shot 30-30 or 45/70, but I'll take the 1" tube and less weight and somehow manage.

For stretching out the .22lr, the Ares is light years ahead of the Helos, and my son is excited to hit the range by the lake place where we have steel at 100, 200 and 300.

A shout out to Teal for the heads up on Arken 34mm low rings, as the Burris XTR's I had in the parts bin were too high.

This summer I plan on swapping it over to the 6creed for some steel fun out to 1200 yards to see how it does at 18x with heat/mirage. The reticle doesn't suck, and, while it's a heavy SOB, with illumination on, would be fine for close, fast shots hunting.
Nice report.

Nobody actually believes the "always shoots 0.2's off a pack" stories. 😉
I missed the claim of “off a pack” 😉

All the pics he posts, he's shown nothing else. 😉
So this is really just another stick hurt my feelings post disguised as a review. 😉

It's whatever you want it to be. 😉

But I thought people that have tried the Helos might want to know you can get the same adjustments with better glass.

A LOT better glass.
