Anyone using one? If so what’s your thoughts on these?
Posted By: RiverRider Re: VX5 HD - 02/13/24
I had a couple or three of those at one time. I thought the optical performance was excellent, but I did not have any of them long enough to wring 'em out to evaluate their durability and reliability. They're definitely head and shoulders above the VX-3 lines optically.

Have one, like it, 2-10 with firedot duplex.

i have one and like it but am having trouble ejecting spent shells ...i dont know why they have to have such large adjustment knobs

I have three, I really like mine. I have no complaints.

Optically mine is on par with the Zeiss, Swarovski, and Schmidt bender, the firedot may give it the advantage over any of them. I don’t know how it’s gone hold up on the 300 wby mag but if so it will be a fine optic.

I ran my 3-15 on a 7 mag.. no issues

I’ve got 2 of them. 3-15X, with the Windplex reticle.

Perfect setup IMO for 30-06, 50-500 yards.

I have two and so far they’ve been great during zeroing and optically.

I have one and my daughter has one, both are 2 x 10. We really like ours and no issues what so ever. Great scope!

No firedots?

I have 2 of the 2-10 and one 3-15x44. All have the fire dot reticle. All are great scopes. I got a custom turret for the 3-15 from Leupold. It tracks great! All scopes perform very well in low light.

I have a 2x10 and a 1x5. Both Firedot CDS models. No complaints with mine. The times I have used the CDS feature it has worked no problem. But where I mostly hunt it is very rare to get a shot much over 200 yards so I seldom mess with the CDS dial. Really like the Firedot though.

I've got a 3-15 on my 6.5 CM, a Bergara Ridge Carbon. Nice scope! Very clear. Excellent low light performance.

Had experience with one and they are wonderful optically speaking. Glass is really nice and great low light performance

I have a 3-15, two 2-10's, two 2-12's and a 1-6. All firedots and all have been flawless. Disclaimer though- I don't dial with mine.

Don't like batteries on my scopes but may have to adapt if I get another FFP, people tell me it's necessary!

They have auto-shutoff. That helps.

It's nice, seeing Leupold getting a good review.

Just got one. Optically, it’s better than the Accupoint I have with a much better eyebox. Slam dunk winner IMO and the firedot is awesome

The vx 5hd 3-15 is one of my favorite hunting scopes. The optics are excellent and the scope is lighter for the magnification you get.

I have a 2-10 on a .30-06 I hardly ever use, but after installing it and zeroing the rifle, I was impressed with the glass.

The rifle itself is accurate, so when I zeroed it, the POI changes were consistent with adjustments. It was very easy to zero and performed well out to 400 yards.

So, I put the rifle in my safe and have continued to use my .308 simply because I prefer that rifle. I can't recall hunting with the '06, and have thought about moving it, possibly for a new Marlin/Ruger SBL.

Yes indeed its good to see a break in the Leupold bashing! If something doesn't live up to its advertising it should be called out but it is good to see that all is not lost at Leupold.

Had one on a .30 Nosler - the telephone pole rifle in the Idaho moose hunt story in General Big Game.

Has about 200 round under it - dialed it for multiple trips past a 200 yard zero.

No issues, dials to what the drop chart and the weather apps say it should, returns to zero.

Optically - no issues with shadow or edge black, and haven't found a morning or evening that it wouldn't let me shoot past what was legal light.

Trying a 2.5-10 next, expecting similar results.

YMMV
