This was just gifted to me. Pretty nice shape old Pecar 3-7x. I can certainly find a use for a clear vintage German scope, except for the reticle. Looks like what they called 15a, very thin crosshairs with 3 small horizontal dots. I guess it would go nicely on a European rimfire. Can't see trying to use it on a "deer rifle". In the meantime, it will go on the shelf with the other scopes awaiting homes.

I’d put it on a classic no name guild Mauser 98. It would look right at home there.
I have a scope just like that except a 14 reticle. Mine is on a 9.3x64 Brenekee - on a 98 Mauser of course. When you zero it the reticle will move off of center, so you'll want to use a windage adjustable base.
I can't really see myself using it for anything serious. It came on a Kimber (Oregon) BGR .300 Win that a buddy bought. He gave it to me thinking I might have a use for it. If it had the 14 reticle of yours, or any other hunting reticle, I'd be thrilled...
Belongs on a "Stalking Rifle" as I suspect those dots are for leading running game. Something like one of those Single-Shot Merkels Geedubya shows pics of once and a while.
SCGunNut;
Good evening to you sir, I hope the day behaved and you're well.

While I've seen a few Pecar scopes up here, they're not exactly common, but I want to say I've read they were well made.

When I looked up your model, the only info I could really come up with as far as dates was this online discussion from 20 years ago.

The interesting thing to me is that it says "Germany" and not "West Germany" so perhaps it was made in the communist controlled part? Not sure on that but few things are labeled "East Germany" somehow.

As to what to put it on, for sure some sort of Mauser or Kiplauf stalking rifle would be cool candidates.

We've all searched for the "right rifle" to go onto a unique scope or at least enough of us have that it wouldn't raise too many eyebrows around this 'Fire.

All the best.

Even if it was a FFP, seems it would be much more practical for the type of hunting I do than a "taticool" scope with christmas tree elevation and windage reticles that obscure about half of the sight picture.

I was wondering how long it would take on this thread for GW to post up a bevy of enviable firearms! :-)
Send it to Form to get it drop tested.

Ha! Not long.

If ya got it, might as well flaunt it.

Geedubya’s sure got pretty toys.

Never get tired of seeing them.

If you wanna run that up 26 to Roebuck I have a nice Steyr 52 it would look great on. I'm sure there's something in the Leupold case we can swap out.
I could put it this thing, and take off the JC Higgins .

That’ll work, and look good doing it.

I have a 98 Mauser early custom I could use it on. It's in 30-06 Ackley Imp.-I am sure it could handle the recoil.
