First, I did a search here and couldn't find a definitive answer. I tried to call Butler Creek this morning and couldn�t get through. Here is the problem. I ordered a set of Butler Creek spring loaded flip open scope covers for a new Leupold VX-II 2x7x33. When you buy a scope at MidwayUSA they have a list of items on the page that may be of interest for whatever is in your shopping cart. In this case for the above scope they state the BC caps number 14 ocular and 17 objective are the proper size to fit that particular scope. When the package arrived the BC caps are way oversized. I e-mailed Midway and they told me to return the caps and they would exchange or refund, but could not offer a proper size or explanation why the website had the wrong sizes listed. A small thing, but slightly aggravating.
To the point, does anyone have the real skinny on what size Butler Creeks a Leupold VX-II 2x7x33 actually uses? I appreciate your responses in advance�
Don't know the exact size cause I bought a used Vari-XII of the same size with the caps included, but I do know they make and they fit perfectly.
I'm prety sure Butlet Creek's website has sizing charts for all scopes with a corresponding parts # for their covers. I went through this last year, and even though I have a different size VX-II, the part # I ordered based on tahat chart was spot on
Not sure but I think Cabelas has a size chart in their magazine.
Go to Butler Creek homepage. They have a chart. Next measure the diameter of scope. Eyepiece and obj. use different #'s.
If you look at the backside of the scope cover they are marked as to number. Ex. 9A for one of the old Weaver 4x, etc.
Try and see if it works for you.
Ok, I measured my scope best I could, eye piece looks to be 1.557" and the objective the very same best I can tell. Of course those both taper and so exactly where you measure can give you slightly different measurements. Leupold says the eye piece is 34mm and the objective is 33mm...? Anyway, I went to the various charts and it looks like there are a couple possibilities, but my closest guesstimate would be.... Steelheads answer - #11 & #15. Midway list the #14 and #17 for this scope and the covers aren't even a close fit as that is way too big. So, I'm thinking I'll return for an exchange for a set of #11/#15's and see how well Steelie and I can measure.
Actually, Steelhead do you have a set on this scope? If so, cool cool because those are the numbers I came up with before checking back here and that would really verify my guess. Appreciate it...

Lets run it down for folks. Your normal run of the mill Leupold hunting scopes (4x, 6x, 2-7x, 2.5-8x, 3-9x, 3.5-10x) not compacts.
11 is what you need for eyepiece
33mm = 15
36mm = 19
40mm = 26
42mm = 29
I have them all.
PS, I've never done that damn measurement stuff with them.
Excellent, that helps me and I'm sure it will help others in the future too. I just put a set on a Leupold VX-III 3.5x10x40 and all went well. Midway's online chart has an error in it on this particular VX-II 2x7x33 model. I'll get my package ready and get them turned around for an exchange for a combo pair of #11/#15. Thank ya sir...
Take scope/rifle to your dealer and try them on for size.........works every time!

Call Cabela's (1-800-237-4444) and order using order code HH-71-2763, then code 333. Explain to the customer service specialist that you only want the scope caps, not the scope. The cost of the scope cap pairs is $18.99.
I have that exact same scope, but I honestly could not tell you what the size numbers are right off the top of my head.
This probably doesn't matter, since I don't know. But, can the VXII use the Leupold screw on flip up caps? The only reason I ask is because I used to use Butler Creeks on my VXIII's. I then got a pair of the Leupold covers and will never put another butler creek on another leupold. The Leupy scope covers simply rock, but they are expensive. You might wanna look into the Leupy covers.

steelhead is correct 11 15 is the caps i have on this scope just it out of the safe to make sure
Go to riflescopes.com,then go to their optics forum and look under tripods,sun shades and lens covers,etc click the first thread ,the list is long with the correct fit!
I know this won't be the popular answer to your question. I think as the guy with a big box of new covers that don't fit due to relying on some clerks guess over the phone, I'll take a stab and tell you this. Butler creek has a sizing chart with each cap sold. Use that and check against the chart, with scope in hand. I am flat out tired of getting something i can't use and cost more to return than the price of the item.
