Anyone using the wide duplex? how does it compare to the standard Leupold duplex? Any advantages or disadvantages?
It's a wider duplex, that's about all there is to it.

I have wide duplex, duplex and heavy duplex reticles in FXII 4x33's on various rifles. The wide duplex differs primarily in that the duplex area covers less of the target thus allowing you a clearer sight picture.

On big targets up close I prefer heavy duplex; for targets further than about 200 yards I like wide duplex, for everything else there's regular duplex.

They all work, it's just splitting hairs really.
I second Oregons opinion. I have a wide duplex on a Weaver 2,5x20 and there it works well for close up moving targets.

Better me thinks than the regular I have in a Weaver 1-3x20.

But - it is splitting hairs.
I don't like the wide duplex. The large spacing between the ends of the heavy sections pretty much defeats the purpose of having a duplex instead of a plain crosshair.
I have used both the standard duplex and the wide duplex and MUCH perfer the standard duplex as the wide covers way too much of the target at longer ranges. In fact, I just sent my 3-9x50 VX II back to have the duplex changed to their LR duplex.
cant figure whats to like about a wide duplex
I think you're confusing the wide duplex with the heavy duplex.

agree
I have both standard and wide duplex models and prefer the wide duplex, I also have a scope with the heavy duplex and like it the least of the three......................547.
For the scoped gun, I use while elk hunting in timber, I have a heavy plex and have never had to take a shot over 100 yds.. I keep the power ring turned down to gain field of view and for this type of hunting the heavy plex is great and really catches the eye. If I was hunting open country where shots were over 200 yds. on average I would go with a std. duplex. If pressed though I would take a 300 yd. shot with confidence with this gun/scope combo.

Agreed... Why Leupold only offers the wide duplex in the new FXII 4x33 in matte, I don't understand.

Although the wide duplex helps you get the propper amount of leade on clays that are passing hard, left to right wink
