I have a set of Bausch & Lomb 10x42 binos. I got them around 2002. I'm not sure what model they are, but they have 28-1042 on the focus wheel. I am told that they were in the nighborhood of $300.00 new. Does anybody an idea of a model or where they fall in quality with todays binos?

They are most likely the Discoverer model. That's the only roof prism they made in that price range.

I believe Roy has it right. So you now have two votes for the Discoverer. They were then and still are pretty good binoculars.

28-1042 is the model for the Baush and Lomb Hemisphere

Interesting. Didn't find a picture of the Hemisphere that amounted to anything, but Optics Planet said they have been replaced by the H2O series which are less than $100. I was going by the price and a perhaps foggy recollection of the model number. So if the OP could post a picture or two it would be easy enough to tell if they are Discovers or what.

another link here, show a new price of $70.00

Edit to add a Discoverer link. Maybe this will tell the OP what he has

Thanks guys for the help. I have never posted a photo. I'm on my way out the door to camp, but will attempt to post a photo when I return.
