Any Sako Quad owners? Does one need to get Sako specific rings/mounts or will any 11mm dovetail fit? Any opinions on the following scopes?
Mueller APV 4X12
Vortex Crossfire
Nitrex
Got one coming and need to get it set up. Normally one gets what one pays for in optics but have heard some good reports on some of the cheaper scopes for rimfires.
11mm Dovetail should fit, but don't quote me.

I've been running a DIP Sako Quad Picatinny rail and I like it a lot.

I've been thinking about selling mine to buy the 20 moa base.

If you're interested in my base, I can send you pictures.
Any 11mm will fit on this Rifle.

I use BKL a very good aluminum mount for this rifle.

I have a Kahles scope that can be used 4 ways for each caliber, but is not really useful for .22LR. It's big Bux: $1,800+. But total optical clarity. Since I use my rimfires by far more than my centerfire rifles, I feel very comfortable putting top quality glass on them.

These barrels are stunningly accurate. Longest shot so far on a ground squirrel was 182 yards holding dead on with .17HMR. Lasered, of course.
Good to know that 11mm will fit. Thought so but have other Sako's and a couple of Tikka's. With them the rings are specific. Going to get a better quality (more bucks..) scope. I would like to spend less money on glass, but every time I have done this I have been dissapointed. That and the rifle really deserves good glass.
I am also looking for suggestions on Sako Quad rings? What are you guys using? I would rather not use an adapter plate

thanks

There is a dedicated Sako forum at www.rimfirecentral.com

You might ask some of those guys about their preferred mounts.
I tried the rail but don't like the screw marks it make so I went to BGK's.

I went with high enough rings so I could change the barrel without pulling the scope.

Gerald over at rimfire centrals got the same setup.
Found what I'm looking for. thanks

I would not give $100 for rimfire mounts. Also if they are lows you will have to remove the scope to change barrels (with a 40mm scope).

Use the DIP rail - stiffens the action, quality rings can then be used and easily removed for barrel changing.

Pick up a DIP bolt and trigger guard while you're at it - good stuff.

I'm looking to sell a Sako Quad synthetic stock fwiw

Ok, I will give the DIP rail another chance. Can't remove the base anyway because of the tiny set screws they use.

Quite honestly I wish I would have bought something else. Just can't warm up to it for some reason, and I have never felt that way before about a rifle. It's a real shame too because I just bought the rifle new in Jan, from Eurooptic, now it's take a bath time if I sell.

FYI, I do have the DIP tactical bolt knob and the DIP aluminum trigger guard on the rifle
