What scope would the members here recommend for the above rifle, currently got a Lynx 4x40 but it has now come apart twice (less than 120 rounds fired), would prefer not to spend a fortune on a scope. I think the nature of the recoil from the 44 (abrupt) is destroying the scope!
Seems to me that rifle begs a leupold 4x33 with heavy duplex. I just ordered one for my 350RM and it works great on that rifle
Straight 4X Leupold.
Love those 77/44's. I need to get one.

I agree with the fixed 4x Leupold. But my first choice for that rifle and cartridge would be the fixed 2.5x straight tubed Leupy Ultralite.
No recoil worries from either.
A Leupold 2-7x33 shotgun scope with a heavy duplex reticle. Or, if cost is an issue, the Nikon ProStaff 2-7x32 isn't a bad scope for less than $125.

My Ruger 44 Mag Carbine has a 1.5X Weaver and it is about right.
My Ruger 44 International has an older Vari-X III 1.5-5x mounted. If I used it more, I'd consider having Leupold replace the standard duplex with a heavy duplex reticle.

My .44 carbine wears a Leupy 1.75x6x32. Think there's on in the classifieds right now.
Thanks for the advice, the reticle hasn't been affected but the lenses have actually come loose. The back lens (exit lens) has actually cracked (and no it wasn't dropped), transported in an aluminium case!
I had a Leupold fixed 2.5X ultralight with wide duplex on a 99/44 the stadia wire broke on the cross hairs, dont know if it was the recoil or just that i should have bought one with a heavy duplex.....Go with a 4X scope i wasnt impressed with 2.5X....
I'd choose the 4x Leupold. I've tried the 2.5 a couple of times and just couldn't like it...but that's just my preference, you may love the 2.5....
Collected my 4X40 Lynx back from the agents today, they replaced the eyepiece (complete), so will put it back on & see if it holds.
Have a Bushnell 3200 Firefly 1.5-4.5x32 on a Deerfield .44. Like it. Natchez has them on closeout for $179
