I'm not as tall as you are, I do have long arms. When standing in ranks I could scratch my ankle with out bending my knees.
I needed a longer stock.

Laughin' at that.
I have mine mounted on a R700 in '06 with a Mickey stock that has a roughly 14" LOP (I'm starting to think I shoulda gone longer). I started out in Talleys, but I needed to go further forward, but the shape of the scope wouldn't allow it.
I ended up going with a rail,as I had never used one, and a couple of guys on another board suggested them.
It's still pretty close, but I can now shoulder the gun comfortably without trying to pull my head back to see through the scope.
In hindsight, I think I would just try different two piece mounts... Leupy DD or S&K. Typical new Remington QC, the way the mount holes are drilled, there is a little binding when the rail is torqued down. I don't know if that is the cause, but it throws bullets of different weight, and even manufacturer, into wildly different spots, usually with horizontal displacement. More study is obviously required. (Dang, I have to tinker with my gun some more, and then shoot it more. I hate it when that happens.)
