I've heard several different ideas on this, but what is the real meaning of the lower case "c" on a Leupold scope designation?

Thanks,
Ted
It denotes a design change that increased the amount of elevation and windage adjustments, around 1984.
I thought it stood for compact
JB in SC is 100% correct. You can find this information at Leupold's site.
Thanks Guys!

Ted
Is this designation visible on the markings of the scope?
Great question, I assumed "compact"......

Yes, it is on the objective bell.

Ted
I thought the "c" was for canted reticle.
Have I been misled all these years?
