Does anybody know why Burris dropped the Signature Select line of scopes? And now they have another line of "Tactical" scopes, the MTAC line, they look pretty nice.
Noticed that a few days ago. I've got my eyes open for a good deal on a closeout!! Please post up if anyone sees anything.
They need to dump their "posi-lock" feature.
I saw that too. I have also noticed that they also dropped the Six line. There top end scope is the Black Diamond 3-12x50. This saddens me because my favorite general purpose hunting scope is 3-10x40 Signature Select.

Why? I like the feature.
So what does this leave Burris with? The Fullfields and Black Diamonds? The black diamonds are heavy pigs, and the Fullfields leave a lot to be desired. Guess they think their laser scope with a reaper on the side is the wave of the future! haha

I don't like the posi-lock because...

A. Burris themselves say simply tightening the lock can shift POI.

B. Correct me if I am wrong, but don't you have to unlock it to change elevation/windage? What good is a turret if you have to unlock the posi-lock first, just to dial elevation?

C. It is an answer for which there was no problem.

Another Beretta company running around with their heads up their azz.

Then don't lock it.. problem solved.
Or buy a better scope...
Its just not Burris, its a lot of other companies that are putting their R+D and manufacturing time into tactical, not hunting products.

I will only really miss that Sig safari scope (and thats been gone for 2 years or so), although I have 4 other signatures, while they are clear are fairly heavy and many other scopes can do what they do.

I bought a pair of the euro diamonds when they were on closeout and now they are all gone. There were a couple of ED's that were fairly nice.. all gone now too.
I've been out to Greeley CO to Burris. Too bad they just keep making bad business decisions. They are fading fast IMO.
They don't seem to have any real direction these days.
I have liked Burris scopes and have had good luck with them. The feature I like the most is their ability to hold zero, particularly on hard kickers. The drawback, as dogcatcher says, they are pigs!

About a year ago I had a long conversation with an employee there who was heading for the door. The conversation started with my question about what was going on there. They dropped the Signature Safari and otherwise reduced the Signature line, dropped the EuroDiamond line and added the Six scopes.

This guy was very disappointed in the company. He felt management just did not "get it"; poor customer service and warranty work, dropping good products and adding bad ones.

I asked him if he would buy a Burris scope as a customer. He liked the Signatures and EuroDiamonds but they were being discontinued. He really liked the Black Diamonds and would buy one himself. However, he hated the Six series because it was a poor product and told me to stay away from it. I told him the way they were structuring their product line, I probably would not buy anymore and he said "yes, he understands".

Fortunately, I don't need any scopes at this time. When the time comes for another, I suspect a Zeiss or Nightforce will be coming my way.

This is real understatement!

Oh yeah, watch for EuroDiamond and Signature closeouts at Graf's and Natchez.
you could buy them with the posi-lock.
Wasnt the Signature Select their last USA made product or had that changed a few years back like the Fullfields? I will say one thing for that company... hands down the worst customer service I ever encountered with anything.
My CS experience with Burris a few months ago was stellar.
Sent in a Signature with a malfuctioning Electro-dot and although the electronics warranty was long expired, they fixed it for free and I had it back in two weeks.

The Sig Select was the last 1" tube that was made in the US, Black Diamond and XTRs are still made here.
So what does that leave them for binoculars? Or are they still making the Sig Select in those.
Never mind, just looked at their website. No more binos, shame. I had a pair of 10x50 Sig Selects and Euro Diamond 10x40s. They are some great optics for the money, after they lowered the price anyways.
I have no clue what's going on there nowadays as I don't keep up with it much but I've been using Burris stuff for quite a few years and never needed their customer service. I have an old FF II that's been put thu the wringer, if it dies tomorrow, it doesn't owe me a thing, my aging eyes like the standard plex at dark. I'd take that scope anywhere.
Found a decent deal on the 3-12x44 Sig Select. Anybody have experience with one? What do they compare to?
Here's the scoop, Burris is making the Steiner Binos and their Tactical scopes(Predator & Tactical). Beretta gave the orders to drop the Burris binos and Sig Select line since Burris is making the Steiner binos. The FullfieldIIs are selling well and the Sig Selects were not, but may come back in another name or form in a couple years.
I had a Black Diamond and I never could see any difference in the quality with my eyes. So I been running the FF II's for years now.
I wonder if the counterpart Pentax (Lightseeker?)will drop theirs too.
Well after I have had several nightmare encounters with their customer service I vowed to never buy a Burris again. Now even if I would buy a Burris they don't make anything I would buy. Don't get what their deal is. They used to have a very diverse product line including offerings no one else had. Wonder if Burris is not on the way out. With all the contract optic companies in Asia I think it will just be a matter of time. Soon Burris will be nothing more than a name on a import.

wondering the same thing. What's wrong with the signature select
Well I have a couple of FF2's and like them even though they are sitting on Savage 17HMRs.

I just purchased a 1-4x24 MTAC and so far I absolutely love it. Very solid, very clear, good eye relief. I will be buying more of these as I am pulling all my high magnification Nikons off my AR15 varmint rifles that I use for predator hunting and going with these. I wanted quick handling 2 eye open shooting optics, it works for me.
Sounds like a decent scope if you could get it for the right price..but I sure do hate bad customer service. Makes me waste a lot of time to get something done.

I have had a 3-10x40 Sig Select on my .300 WSM for about 5 years. I haven't had a single problem with it. Performance wise I would put it between the VX-II and VX-III. My 2.5-10x44 Euro Diamond with the 30mm tube that's on my .270 WSM is a little better. The larger objective and tube just lets more light through IMO.
I was told by Josh that the Sig Selects werent selling like they used to, I replied you have to make em to sell em, I never see any of them in the Gun stores, Gander, Cabelas, etc, used to but not lately. Maybe the FFIIs were just selling so much better that Beretta decided to end it, though Josh did say they might be back in a couple years. And like I said before, they are making the Steiner scopes now.

Wow, I didn't even know Steiner was coming out with scopes. Course it was news to me that Burris was making their binoculars as well. I think I do remember hearing that Beretta owned Steiner.

I agree with the "you have to make em to sell em" statement and I wouldn't expect any closeout specials since you just can't find them anywhere. Checking all the sites like Natchez, Optics Planet, and midway it seems like Beretta made the decision a while ago, decided against letting them go close out, and decided to just not replenish their stocks.
Just wanted to give an update. Natchez has the 3-12x44 sig select on sale for $359 so I ordered one a few weeks ago. Put it on my 7RM Ruger Hawkeye. To my eyes it is a very nice scope, especially at that price. Clarity is excellent and the adjustments were right on. I would put it on par or slightly above my current generation Monarch, and not too far below my Meopta Meopro. Thought some of you might be looking for a nice deal on a nice American made scope.
