I would like to hear some input on these scopes also. Fotis did you sell your 7mm RUM brass?

Just mounted a 2x10x40 ZA-5 on a new SS 6.5x55 Howa. They fit perfectly in Talley LW lows.

Eye relief is long. Eye box/eye position is sort of tight at higher magnifications, but with a consistant cheek weld it's not as big of a deal as I thought it would be.

I don't have the descerning eye that many possess here, but optically I think it's very good. Brigh and clear. I got the #4 reticle on mine and I like it a great deal so far.

Can't comment on tracking yet. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot the rig since I put it together.

Their service center is in the US, so I'm hopeful that should I ever need warranty work, it will be speedy.

Edited to Add: I know some have had problems with their scopes failing mechanically. We shall see. I'm hoping it won't be an issue with an 8.5lb 6.5 Swede.

Have two of the ZA5 1.5-8s. One is mounted on my 20 ga slug gun and has performed flawlessly. I too have the #4 reticle and like the way the designed it. The eye relief is generous and optically, I'd say on par with the Conquest. I'd get another one...

Can't comment on the riflescope as I have not used one, but I had a pair of their HG bino's that I got from cameraland. I sold them when I upgraded to some Swaro's. If I could find a pair for what I sold them for I would buy them in a heartbeat. Good quality look and feel especially for the price. I would think the riflescopes would be on par as well.

When I bought my pair I think their warranty was a 30 year, but I think they may have beefed it up since then?

Gledeasy, which HG bino's did you have, the original ones or the more recent, all German ones. And in what configuration?

I had these ones http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/minox.pl?page=62157

Bought them about 4 years ago. At the time I was looking to spend 500 to upgrade my bino's. Called cameraland thinking I was going to get a pair of Vortex Vipers and per their recommendation ended up with the Minox.

it is an "ok" scope. I had one for a brief moment but the sample I had produced a ton of flare, then at 10X moving your head a tiny bit lost the picture, see if Doug will let you try it before you buy it. . Sent it back, got a 3x9ZA3 which is an slightly better "ok" scope.

I have a 3-15 x 42 ZA5 and I haven't really warmed up to it. Mine changes focus as you change the power. Pretty annoying.
Posted By: Eremicus Re: Opinions on Minox - 03/24/13
Try focusing it at the highest magnification. Then, looking at the same object, turn the magnification down and see if it stays focused. It should. E

I have the 3-15 and it has been a huge letdown. Small FOV and the optics are on par with Tasco in my opinion. Lots of better options out there.

I have the 2x10, one mounted on a 7mm08 and the other on a 300. I like it well enough n my whitetail rig. No problems with clarity or focus. It does have a narrower FOV. Can't remember the specs but depending on the use, such as eastern whitetails, I am saisfied.

I like the bino`s but the scopes suck. They are clear, but when trying to adjust windage and elevation you never know what they will do and would not hold zero from one shooting session to another. Not worth the hassle.

Interesting thread. They either suck or they are awesome. The 2 that I have are very nice. Optically the Minox has better low light contrast and resolution compared to the Conquests I have IMO. I've never had to make any windage or elevation changes in 3 years to the scopes I have. I must add the 3-15x has a narrow fov and the eyebox is very tight at high power. Overall I think Minox scopes are a good value, especially at the demo prices.

I'm leaning away from suck, towards nice. I bought one of the open box specials from Doug, and it had some fish eye.

Minox sent me a brand new one with the #4 reticle. The glass is great, and has hald zero since I first sighted it in.

Not sure what else you could want for $300.

I had a 6x30x56mm ZA5 and I couldn't of gotten rid ofr it fast enought. FOV was bad, glass was marginal for Schott optics. Turrets felt mushy ,long long eye relief. Noap thumbs down.
