I'm not sure why binocular manufacturers don't include a couple eyecup options with their high-end models.



Stole this idea from JGRaider.

I think he used something similar for ER issues. My problem was more of a 'fit' issue.



Ordered some SLC's from Cameraland last week and have been fooling around with them for a few days now. Great glass, very bright and clear but it took a little effort to hold them just right in order to keep a perfect view.

Ordered a set of the Swaro winged eyecups and tried those yesterday but I still wasn't 100% satisfied.


I've come to the conclusion that I have odd facial structure so rather than return the bino's I went down to the local hardware store and found a set of these.




Great glass went to absolutely perfect glass.

The bino's are now like an extension of my face and it is easily 2 or 3x easier to look through them. Zero effort to keep them still as they rest right on the bridge of my nose. Zero blackouts. Total appreciation of the 3-D like view.


The whole idea of spending money on nice bino's was to slow myself down when hunting and spend more time glassing. And of course to really stop and look at things one needs to forget they are even using binoculars. The SLC's are now like looking through my own eyes so to speak.

An $8 set of gaskets made all the difference in the world.

I have seen items priced high in one part of a store, cheaper in another part of the same store.

Only issue now is finding a new(bigger) set of lens covers.

Need some to fit over 1 7/8".

Very good SamO. I have a weird face too..... Now though, when you throw 'em up there, they fit perfectly, like you described. No more farting around with anything except focus. Sweet!

I wonder, while we are being cheap, if the plastic cap on a tube of gun grease is near the correct size?

High end optics have now taken a turn to compete with the lesser priced optics. this should help close the gap with the cheaper optics, and this could only happen in America...

You should buy a bunch of the garbage disposal gaskets and rebadge them as swarovski aftermarket eyecups. You should be able to get $50 a set for them

sammo, You might consider the cut-out bottom of a plastic oilcan, or some-such, for a lense cover to keep the rain out. I used the bottom of a discarded gas-line antifreeze bottle on my old leupolds.......worked great, and something sim-u-lar would maybe go good with the disposal gaskets and angle-iron tripod adaptors.....

I might be doing it wrong all along. I rest the eyecup up against the top part of my eye socket. Somewhere between the inter pupillary adjustment and the twist up eye cups I have always been able to find a sweet spot for comfortable viewing with a sharp sight picture.

Pigster, I rest them on the bridge of my nose and also on the top of the eye socket. Double contact, very steady, if that makes sense.

Very subjective though I suppose, this is just what works for me.

the threaded adaptor is just a 1/4 inch bolt welded to a cut down quick-grip clamp. a ball mount from a busted swaro window mount is attached to that. spotter on top.....

This is taking a ,"Anything you can make, I can make cheaper," bent.

OK. carrying on, with the quick-grip clamp theme. scraps of maple, cherry and a couple clamps make a serviceable cleaning stand, too......
