I have been looking at a few rangefinders and would to hear others opinions that have maybe used them. The three main ones are the ziess, the lieca 1600b and the leupold 1000 tbr. Getting out to about 600 yards and getting the true range are the most important to me. Thanks.

Leica

I bought a Leica 900 a few years ago when Doug at Cameraland range them on a closeout sale. I love the thing, have ranged many times to well over 700 yards. It is fast, not gimmicky, easy to use. I expect the new ones that range even further are similarly excellent.

You might cruise some of the used offerings, as I couldn't want for one better than the one I have.

I have the highest end Leupold TBR. It works great up close to medium distances but is sketchy past 300 or so. Has been repaired once. I will be going Leica. Will use Leupold as a backup and for bow hunting.

I bought the Leica 1000 this year that easily ranges past 1000 yards in good conditions and has much better glass than the Leupold that made me realize my old Nikon Monarch was obsolete.

The compact size and angle calculation for bow hunting were what made me choose it over the Zeiss.

For elk hunting it is hard to beat and the glass is so clear I don't need binoculars hunting turkeys. I have compared it side by side with my cousin's Leupold and ranged very similar yardages at 600 but the Leica will range a little farther and is much clearer.

I have a Leica 1000 works well. It's not a tru ballistic rangefinder
I will keep what I have. I don't shoot LR much any ways.

I probably have more limited rangefinder experience than some on here but so far I am very impressed with my Zeiss 8x26PRF. Seems reliable, ranging the same street sign down my street a couple of blocks got me the same reading 30 consecutive times. In Wyoming I ranged cattle out to 1000 yards and a large rock face to 1400 yards. Optics seem good and it returns a reading quickly. It is a little larger than some of the others but I find the horizontal setup comfortable to hold steady as well.
