Haven't logged on in quite some time. Just before clicking on Optics I wondered if there was a Leupold 6x thread on page 1 as I remembered a lot of items on this scope.

Generally any retailer who carries Leupold products has to agree to sell at MSRP. I've never seen any discounts on a current production Leupold product. Some that have been discontinued yes.

Some retailers may offer free shipping, I get CC points for anything I buy at Cabelas with my card. Sometimes Cabelas sends me a $25-$50 or even a $75 off coupon good for anything in the store or catalog. I once used $200 worth of points I'd accumulated along with a $75 off Coupon combined with free shipping to buy a Leupold. But it was priced at MSRP.

I've also seen some retailers offer a cheap pair of binoculars, or maybe mounts thrown in free with a Leupold purchase. But once again, the scope was always the same price as anyone else.

You may be confusing a VX 6 with 6x. The VX6 is top of the line from Leupold and a 6x scope is merely the power magnification. Both are very popular though.

I've been going to Optics Planet. They currently have Leupolds on sale.

I'm going to have to check out the site JGRaider put up when I get time later but like jmr said, I too, have never seen a current Leupold "on sale". I've seen them with $50 rebates and such but not where a retailer themselves had marked off of the price.

That okefe link from drano25 is worthy of a look, sorta gotta dig around a bit. Besides the vx-6, for example VX-Rs under $450, FX3 6x42 under $360. Seemed to be free shipping as well.

If you're a certified Hunter safety instructor Leupold offers you one optic @ 45% off MSRP & 6 accessories @ 60% off per year. The window for ordering is March thru September IIRC and delivery can be slow but it's a generous program.

Anyone buying a Leup (or any other scope) would be wise to listen to JG's above advise. "Call" being the key word. There are others too.

I have had very good luck with pricing and free shipping by calling Euro Optics. And if you pay via check over the phone, you get another 3% off. Tell them you are a 24HCF member.

Tactical vs hunting. VX6 is Leupy's top of the heap hunting scope.

This may hold true for Leupold 'dealers', but not for everyone that sells Leupold products. I've order 2 from Okefenokee Outdoors, no issues. Prior to ordering the first, I called Leupold to ask about them first. Leupold indicated that while they were not a 'dealer', I should be able to shop there with confidence.
