Bummer. Just got off the phone with Zeiss and found out they can't change the reticle of a 3.5-10 x 44 Conquest because they discontinued that scope and parts are no longer available. I knew they had been discontinued, but wouldn't have thought they also stopped servicing them. I thought they only discontinued them last year.

I was hoping to get two Z800's changed to Z600's to more closely match the ballistics of the guns I was planning to put them on. I guess that's not an option now.

Kind of makes me question staying with Zeiss on future scopes. Maybe Leupold's a better choice for long term support.
Crap. I'm in the same situation. No more Zeiss scopes for me!

I guess my 3.5-10x44's are going on 22's...

I sent them an email to confirm what I was told on the phone was correct. I like the scopes, I have 3 of them in the 3.5-10 x 44 and another in 3-9 x 40. I was planning to move 2 of the 3.5 x 10's to a .300 WM and a .25-06 With those calibers, the Z600 marks are dead on when dialed up at 10X. With the Z800, the marks match when the scope is at 8.5X, kind of defeats the purpose of buying a 10X with a BDC reticle.

Regardless of the reticles, I'm more concerned that future repairs might be an issue.
I called them about a used scope I wanted to buy to see if they would install a #4 reticle and was told that the #4 reticle was discontinued and they could not put it in any scope
I also called about a reticle change on a used scope I was looking at and was told they do not offer reticle changes at all. Made up my mind about Zeiss.
I had the reticle changed from #4 to #8 in my Victory Diavari not too long ago. Were these Conquest or German-made scopes you guys were calling about when they told you no reticle changes?

In my case it was on a Conquest 3.5 -10 x 44
The one I called about was a DuraLyte with a non illuminated reticle.
I sent my 3x9x40 Conquest in for a reticle change in August with a check for the change as they said to do when I called, first. After not hearing a word from them I called yesterday and was told they could not change it because the scope was discontinued, but that I would have my choice of any scope off of a list of scopes they would e-mail me. When the list came it was of all the Terra scopes. I called the lady back and informed her that this was not going to work, and that I would just take my scope back. She said that she couldn't do that and after some DISCUSSION she agreed to send me a 2x10x42 HD5. If it gets here i'll be ok with it but it makes you wonder about the future. All in all the experience wasn't the worst I ever had, but not the best either.
They wouldn't send you your own scope back? How does that work?
Sounds like Zeiss CS is taking a crap. I'll be a Leupie homer instead, thank you very much.
Zeiss CS isn't taking a crap. It has NEVER been worth a crap....
Sounds to me like they lost your scope...
Did they say if they could still install an elevation target turret? I emailed them Thursday after seeing this as I have pulled my scope off and was ready to send it in. Haven't heard back yet.
Learned today that the target turret switch is still good to go. Taking my chances and sending it in. Fingers crossed.
At first the lady said she couldn't send MY scope back because it had been sent back to the factory. After I made it clear that I did not buy a Zeiss to get a scope made in japan (terra) and that MY scope was mine and that they had no right to dispose of it, she offered a 2x10x42 Conquest HD5. Upon my return call to confirm that I'd take the HD5, she said she checked and could get my scope back for me. By then I was pissed and said no thanks I will just take the HD5 and when it gets here send it to Kenton Ind. for a turret. Like I said if the HD5 is here shortly i'll be ok with it, as it is an upgrade. But the fact that they tried to downgrade me first is in the back of my mind.
I made an inquiry on the Zeiss website about a reticle change on a DuraLyt scope on 11/21/14, I got the following response today.
Thank you for your inquiry to ZEISS.

My apologies on the delay in answering your email. The only reticles available on the Duralyt are the 6 on non illuminated #60 on the illuminated reticle.

Hoping to be of service to you we kindly ask you to contact us again should you need further assistance.

Seems you take it or leave it. I'll sacrifice a little on glass quality for better customer service from Leupold.
I just got my Conquest back from Zeiss. Had the elevation turret installed on my 3-9x40. Anxious to get it out and start using it. Looks good enough and is actually shorter than I thought it would be.

Guy57, How did your HD5 turn out?

I feel sorry for you, and my .22 could use a scope.

I'll help you out, I'd give you $125. for the Zeiss.

Let me know.
I have heard meopta was the company who actually made the conquest line, from what I have heard they quit doing it. That would explain why zeiss doesn't work on those scopes anymore. maybe they never actually did but instead meopta serviced them. I wonder if you could have got a diavari out of them instead of an hd5.
Got the same song/dance from Zeiss at the tail-end of conquest's production. They told me they "couldn't" install a #4 in a 4x32 or 2-8x32 because "weren't ever made with them."

"If that's the case, why am I holding in my hand print-outs from your website and vendors selling exactly that?"

"Well, um, we don't have the parts anymore because production is stopping."

This was 2010 or -11 IIRC. So it is, Zeiss must have their business reasons, but from a consumer standpoint we lost a terrific product that now also has no service? Zeiss should know this: when these scopes die, have zero interest in the Terra or HD5 offerings on their merits, let alone the C.S. experience. Doesn't make one giddy to shell out money on another diavari, either. Zeiss really crapped their own bed with this one.
