Anyone like this on an AR?

I had one with the illuminated reticle. It was a great scope. I'm sorry I sold it.

I bought one at the black friday sale for $299 but its still in the box. Looking thru it at just after sunrise this morning, the reticule when unlit is hard to see with illumination off. There is a lot of tube around the glass. The illumination is not too bad set down to 1 it appears that it will not ruin your NV too much, it has a spare battery holder on the brightness adjustment. The turret clicks are very positive and appear to have an allen screw on both turrets, I guess this is too take the turret off and reposition it. There is no instruction manual, the reticule to me is not easy to understand, its not the typical reticule. The glass is actually pretty good.

Overall without knowing how the mechanical quality is other than it is said to be very good I would say for that for even $400 they are a good buy. Needs an instruction manual or even a single sheet to explain some of the features but overall a good product.

What I'm thinking of is pig hunting at fairly close ranges to 100 yards, in sometimes poor light.

If the SS 1-4x24 illuminated reticle is great for combat, but not so great for pig hunting in low light, then that is going to be a determining factor.

It's hard to tell from the website what it's like at 1 and 4 power.

for the $400 and free mount the SWFA is worth a try. My pig/general purpose scope is the 1-6 VX-6. Finally Leupold made a reticule thick enough and black enough for me to like. You put a red light out there and you don't need illumination to kill chit with that reticule. Without the illumination in my personal opinion the SWFA reticule would be too light to use in the near dark, I liken it to a Zeiss Conquest rapid Z reticule.

I apologize I was tired last night and didn't see this was illuminated. I had mine on my AR when I was on patrol. The illumination worked well for me. Dim enough for night but at the highest it was bright enough it would work like a red dot during the day at 1x. Just pretty good all around.

I've seen Leopold's illuminated reticle (dot), but not the SS.

Have you seen Leupold's, and if so, how would you gauge utility of the SS for hunting purposes? (They're different, I know.)
