The bolt handle inhibits you from getting too low. That being said, the DIP rail and a set of low rings will buy a little bit of elevation.
Have you switched out the bolt?
If it's a newer one, just a matter of buying lower rings as the bolt handle has been re-contoured. Older ones you'll have to send to jamescalhoon.com; he sells his own low 527 ringmounts, but I like low Warnes, and they can usually be found at a decent price.
Thanks, I want to buy A new 527 with full length stock which has a lot of drop to the stock, have to find out if it has new bolt and fast twist.
