A couple of years ago I was looking for a budget mount for the AR-15 and went with the rock river arms mount. Plenty stout, good quality, and about $55. Some of the other brands can get positively ridiculous in price.

I also use the RRA mount. The cantilever model places the scope forward where it belongs.

I have used the Rock River, and it gets the job done, but its pretty fat and bulky. The same goes for the Burris PEPR, and most of the other cheap mounts.

My current go to is the Aero Precision mount. Its a little more expensive than the cheap mounts...but its worth it.

Do AR ring screws (not mounts) have a tendency to loosen themselves a lot more than those on bolt actions? Kind of seems that way in my limited experience and can understand why it might be the case.

I have not had that experience at all.

I just mailed a 1" Primary Arms mount back to them

Finish was disapointing and the was even burrs still on one edge

Did anyone but tedhorn actually care to look at what the OP wanted? Or could you just not wait to tell everyone about an opinion that he didn't ask for...?


I have used the Warne mount the tedhorn linked to, and it is about as good as any. Have also used normal scope mounts with a smaller 45* offset mount such as the Midwest Industries, for the red dot and generally prefer to go that way.

I did read the original post, and dont see a single mount suggested that wont work. Any regular mount will work just fine, and a with the addition of a picatinny ring mount ro optic specific mount, the 45 degree issue is easily resolved.

That being said, the Warne is incredibly overpriced for what you get, when an ADM mount is roughly the same money, a Larue or Bobro only slightly more, and an Aero Precision considerably less.

Which of those have you used?

I like the looks of the Warne, wish I had seen this two months ago just bought two LT-104's...with the LT-104 is there a separate mount I can buy to put a T1 at 45 degree's?

Of that list? I have owned ADM, Larue, Bobro, and Aero...Handled the Warne on other rifles, and on the shelf, hence why I decided against it.

Thank you. Reason that I asked is because some of those are more conducive to mounting an offset red dot than others depending upon where you preferences lie in regards to placement. Most will find that putting the dot at 45* closer to the rear, the better.

I absolutely agree, and when combined with any of a number of possible scopes, forty five degree mounting can become an issue. In particular, the Bobro and ADM seem to offer the most real estate at the rear of the optic, the ADM the least...in most cases.
